Lexmark, German Authorities Raid Remax Paperworld

On January 25, 2014 German Customs authorities, together with Lexmark and other printer manufacturers seized patent infringing printer cartridges being displayed at the Remax Paperworld exhibition in Frankfurt, Germany
A team of 10 Customs agents entered trade show booths and confiscated items that infringed Lexmark design and utility patents. Seven companies had infringing cartridges on display that violated Lexmark’s intellectual property rights, including several models of Lexmark toner cartridges
In addition to surrendering the infringing goods, the companies that were the target of the raids were also required to remove all images of the infringing products from displays, signage, banners and marketing materials
The next step in the process is that the German Customs official will turn over the goods that were seized and the identities of the individuals and companies involved in the infringing activity to prosecutors in Germany
